The History of Joeyees Trading Sdn Bhd and the brand Nang Ori.

2016

• Joeyees Trading Sdn Bhd was founded by Puan Awaeang Anak Kwasin (Madam Awin) while she was managing a Human Resource company in Selangor, Malaysia. The idea for the company emerged from a recurring request from her friends, who frequently asked her to bring back Sarawak Black Pepper during her trips back to Kuching, Sarawak. After several months of fulfilling these requests, Madam Awin realized the potential to turn this demand into a business opportunity. This led to the creation of the Nang Ori brand, dedicated to producing and supplying authentic Sarawak pepper.

2017

• The company focused on expanding its Sarawak pepper products. We faced challenges in getting their products into hypermarkets but received significant support from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs. In turn, we managed to partner with major retailers like Mydin, AEON, and Lulu. This collaboration with major retailers significantly boosted our market presence and allowed us to introduce Sarawak pepper to a wider audience

2018

• The company expanded its product offerings to include pepper-based innovations like cosmetics, beverages, and other food products. Most famously, our Nang Ori Black Pepper Gel was launched around this time, which was a huge crowd favorite among our customers. This was the year when the brand became increasingly recognized locally, appearing on multiple newspapers and news sites covering our growth in the pepper industry, with the tagline “From Farm to the World,” emphasizing its mission to help people generate income through Sarawak pepper-based products.

2019

• Joeyees Trading has deepened its collaboration with rural pepper farmers and local women, driving sustainable income generation through the sale of Sarawak pepper products. In addition, we have launched initiatives aimed at supporting local crafts and enhancing educational opportunities within these communities.

  This year also marked a significant milestone for Joeyees as we became a vendor for AEON, leveraging our expertise to assist other businesses in entering the AEON supermarket ecosystem. Furthermore, we proudly introduced a new and innovative product to our lineup: Black Pepper Coffee, reflecting our commitment to quality and innovation in the pepper industry.

2020

• During the lockdown, like many other businesses, we faced significant challenges in managing sales and expenditures. Despite these hardships, we were honored to receive an award for Best Packaging for our 5-in-1 Black Pepper, a testament to our commitment to quality and innovation.

  The company continued to build on this momentum, gaining recognition for the exceptional quality of our products and establishing a stronger market presence.

2021

• Joeyees Trading started exploring more international markets, aiming to promote Sarawak pepper globally under the Nang Ori brand.

2022

• Puan Awaeang Anak Kwasin was appointed as a board member of the Malaysian Pepper Board, representing industry players and contributing to the national strategy for the pepper industry.

2023

• Joeyees Trading received several industry awards, further solidifying its position as a leading supplier of Sarawak pepper.

2024

• The company continues to innovate within the pepper industry, focusing on sustainability and community involvement. They remain committed to maintaining the authenticity and quality of Sarawak pepper while expanding their product offerings​
